On Wednesday 27th March 2024, PROMES CNRS hosted two classes from the François Arago High School at the Odeillo solar furnace. This was an opportunity to introduce them to the solar installations at this experimental site, the only one of its kind in the world, and to research and science in general.

Guided by Anita Haeussler and Emmanuel Guillot, students began their visit by wandering near the field of heliostats, where they were able to admire the imposing concentrator with its 3,000 m² of mirrors. They then went into the laboratory to explore the equipment and see the experiments carried out daily by the research teams.

At the end of the afternoon, students attended an oral communication by Anita on Energy, research and its professions, and the role of researcher.

We wish all students every success in future, and hope this visit will have encouraged some vocations.
